The Pixar Universe Theory begins with The Good Dinosaur, as it has the first accounts of animals displaying great intelligence and shows the effect humans have on their environment. The theory was started by Jon Negroni, who through Easter eggs and theories about Pixar movies, came up with a way to put them all in one universe. Their attempts to find a way back home lead Buzz to jump many years into the future, where he meets a whole new crew and comes across the evil Emperor Zurg (James Brolin), who keeps a big secret that completely changes Buzz’s perspective. Lightyear, then, follows Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Chris Evans) as he explores the habitable planet T’Kani Prime with his commanding officer and crew, but after dangerous encounters with the planet’s hostile lifeforms and their ship breaking down, they end up stranded there. Lightyear took the audience back to the Toy Story universe with a twist, as this is the movie that a young Andy Davis watched back in 1995 that made him a big fan of Buzz Lightyear, and thus it’s the movie that inspired the now-famous toy.
